A Summer Fete

A good few hours late this afternoon was spent napping, as I moved out of my flat in Birmingham yesterday and into our new house, ready for the start of my second year at university.

However, until about 3pm, Luke, my parents and I were having a lovely time at the Shenley Church End Parish Council Fete.

There were over 40 stalls, both inside Medbourne pavillion and out on the field, offering everything from jewellery, soaps, greeting cards and (my favourite) FOOD!

There were chinese noodles, prawn toast and spring rolls:

Cream tea:

And, of course, ice cream!

We were so lucky with the weather, there were a few light showers but they certainly weren’t enough to put anybody off – the fete started at 12pm and, the car park was full and overflowing by 1pm!

As much as I loved wandering round the stalls, most of which were raising money for some really good causes (RSPCA, Hope for Hollie etc.), I think my favourite stand wasn’t selling anything. I absolutely loved the brass band.

They played everything from The Bear Necessities to Happy, by Pharrell Williams, you couldn’t help but sing along and they had quite a crowd forming on the grass in front of them.

The fete is an annual event, we loved it last year too, and if you are local to Milton Keynes I would definitely recommend spending a few hours here. Entry is free and each year the raffle and proceeds raise money for a local charity, this year was Milton Keynes Hospital.

There’s plenty for kids to do as well: face painting, dancing, singing and an indoor play area. The perfect family day out!

What did you do today?

We wanted to try everything and ended up eating way too much – but it was so worth it! It is, they deserve the recognition I think 🙂 x
